June 21, 2009: Summer shaping up in Shelburne, Nova Scotia....
Loyalist Encampment returns to Shelburne July 16-19... July 16 through 19 will see Shelburne's Historic Waterfront come alive with dozens of 18th Century animators and enactors as the 18th Century Loyalist Encampment returns during Founders Days weekend.
    
In 2008, during the wildly successful Loyalist Landing 225th Anniversary Celebrations, the Encampment featured over 100 animated characters and was the most popular event in the town, drawing thousands of visitors from as far away as Germany and the West Coast of the U.S.A.
    
This year's event is expected to feature members of the 3rd New Jersey Volunteers regiment, the King's Orange Rangers, the 84th Regiment of Foot Royal Highland Emigrants, the Royal American Fencible Regiment of Foot, Prince of Wales Historical Dancers and Shelburne Reenactment Association. 
    The weekend features miscellaneous historic presenting of civilian life, including cooking, laundry, scribe, crafts, games, etc. Reenactments of Military life, including uniforms, kit, musket care, drilling, orders, etc., as well as public floggings, presentation of the theatrical "People of the 18th Century" and performances by the  Prince of Wales Historic Dancers. Farmer's Market opens in Shelburne... After months of behind-the-scenes organizing, the Shelburne Farmer's Market will have its debut on Saturday, the 27th June from 8am until 12 noon... The Market is located at the Loyalist Plaza on Water Street (former IGA) and will be there every Saturday through until October. The vendors will be offering things such as fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and meats, baked goods, jams, jellies, chutneys and honey, fresh flowers and herbs and plants, depending on seasonal availability... see the Farmer's Market web site HERE

Boat Tours start on Shelburne Harbour... One of the world's best harbours now sports one of the best-ever harbour tours as the 44-foot pleasure trawler Brown Eyed Girl departs twice daily for 3 1/2-hour harbour tours, including the possibility of visiting historic McNutts Island for five hours. Skipper Ken Taylor and first mate Sherri offer a great trip, complete with fishing yarns from Ken and lots of history from Sherri
